| Kansas Republican Tim Huelskamp issued a challenge to the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Tuesday: Adopt the same calorie restrictions and menu standards in the department’s cafeterias as the USDA now requires in the nation’s public schools. You would not believe how much food is being thrown away! Students are not allowed to refuse anything, even stuff they know they will not eat, so it just gets tossed.
Where are the environmentalists???? You know the carbon footprint of food that is not eaten? What a horrible habit to have our children get into!

The USDA should make all the frozen dinners sold at the super markets. A nutritious meal of two veggies and two ounces of meat.
The new dinners would be yummy and delicious. And the industry would be more efficient too, only one brand would be needed, and one standard box, no advertising.
Then stop the sale of fresh meat. Consumers might eat the wrong kinds or too much.
A standard production for other food types can gradually follow.
e.g. look at all the flavors and brands of pop tarts offered. One would suffice.

Since when are limousine liberals bound by the rules they impose on everybody else. This isn't even about food but kids looking at the government as their substitute parent. This is massive brainwashing for when they become voting age.

At my sisters school unopened string cheese, completely sealed in plastic, must be thrown away if the kids don't eat it . Also unopened milk. Tons of this and other food is thrown away every day. The staff is starting to retrieve some of the unopened stuff for themselves.

My question is, "How did this law pass in a Republican controlled House?" Why are Republican congressmen getting all upset when it could not become law unless they passed it and sent it to the Democrat Senate. Huh?????

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. Twenty-six percent named Sandy as an “important” factor, and 15 percent said it was the “most important” factor in their decision.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate."
