| Shortly after the first presidential debate on Wednesday night, all eyes will turn to one of the few factors that could still reshape the race: Friday’s jobs report, a barometer that will sort out the campaign rhetoric from the economic realities. Unemployment is supposed to have gone up. Besides evidence from economic reporters looking at figures from various sources the furious spinning of the 0bama regime to suppress any more losses of employment tells you something wicked this way comes. And they are going to try to spin any report this week and/or cover it up with some big distraction. According to this article since 1948 no president has been reelected with unemployment above 7.2%. It will definitely still be above that by Nov. But has any president had such a corps of media liars working on his behalf?

This is what Romney has to avoid. Sorry Josh. Seasonal hiring picks up in September, so the jobs numbers may show an improvement. All temps and part time. You have to get beyond the bls bs to the real labor market which is in a severe depression. Wages are down, full time work is down, young workers have no hope, long term unemployment is at record highs. These are the numbers that need to be highlighted. You can spin the jobless rate, you can't spin the reality of the labor market. Stick it Josh.

A 'tie' is essentially a win.
All Romney has to do is convince the public that he is not the rapacious, cold monster that the MSM has created. Show that he is reasonable, intelligent, and of course explain that more government is not always the answer and in fact is often the problem.

The "debate" will actually be:
- Romney, attempting to get the truth about Obama in edgewise.
- Obama, in pre-planned collusion with his zombie "moderators", lying his posterior off, lying about the lies, lying about colluding with the "moderators" about the lies, then smiling in that way of his that makes the female vote (and Chris Mathews) go all moist and tingly, while passing out more free phones.
- zombie "moderators" ready to leap out of their seat, kill Mitt Romney with a hatchet and eat his brains like Hannibal Lector.

Despite MSM insisting Romney must slam dunk the first debate, it's not true. I have watched Mitt's very cautious campaign for months. He will get a few good ones in there but will not hurt himself. It doesn't matter, it's VOTE R/R on November 6th! My hope is that Obama's thin skin is on full display.

I'm hearing that the reason that obama is so high in the polls is because he is lying his butt off on ads in swing states stating that Romney will raise taxes on middle class. Total lie.
Romney needs to state plainly tonight that this is a baldface lie.

The contest is between those who oppose an ever-expanding government and it's massive hand-outs and those who support it, most of whom currently pay no income tax whatsoever.
That's why the numbers are so tight...

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. Twenty-six percent named Sandy as an “important” factor, and 15 percent said it was the “most important” factor in their decision.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men.
