Al Gore denied
firestorm footage

The Australian (Sydney, Australia), by Sally Brooks

Original Article

A WEATHER expert has backed the stance of an Alice Springs filmmaker who refused to sell footage of a firestorm to former US vice-president Al Gore -- to use in Mr Gore's climate presentations -- because the event was unrelated to climate change. Chris Tangey from Alice Springs Film and Television recorded the phenomenon on Curtin Springs Station, 360km southwest of Alice Springs, while scouting locations for a film. The footage has been an international sensation, reported widely in global media. In an email exchange with Mr Gore's office, Tangey said using the footage in a climate-change framework would be "deliberately deceptive".

Comments:
The big dope gets busted in mid hoax again. If he wants footage of a burning tree, he could set himself on fire and film it.

Maybe The Gorbot could get the footage of the fake car fires set by the alphabet networks a few years back.

Good on Chris Tangey! Choosing honesty over fame is often difficult, just ask anyone in politics.

What part of AlBore's agenda don't we understand?

A good second choice would be for Gore to use footage from an "Outback Steakhouse" commercial.
When they fire up the grill.

Well, obviously, Mr. Tangey is not familiar with the concept of "higher calling," nor does he Love his Mother Gaia.

Ahem.

A National Rifle Association television ad targeting Democratic West Virginian Senator Joe Manchin for his work with President Barack and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to draft new gun control legislation uses a shaded photo of the African-American president that makes him appear darker and, according to some critics, more sinister. In the ad, Bloomberg´s face appears to be shaded, as well, but much less dramatically than the president´s Obama´s darker appearance in the ad is being compared to a controversial 1994 Time magazine cover

A host of Republicans considering 2016 presidential bids, including Florida Gov. Marco Rubio, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, will attend a conference for religious conservatives starting Thursday, with a notable exception: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Christie was invited to speak at the Faith and Freedom Coalition´s two-day "Road To Majority" conference in Washington, Republicans with knowledge of the invitation said. Christie´s team declined, citing a scheduling conflict. Instead of visiting the conservative confab, the New Jersey governor

Let’s give Jimmy Carter his due

If there’s one thing we know about Americans, it’s that they love a winner. By extension, they can be very tough on those who don’t. I’ve often wondered whether that’s why so many people seem unwilling to give Jimmy Carter his due. Yes, Carter was president of the United States during four tumultuous years, 1977-’81. He had his share of crises to deal with: 52 Americans held hostage in Iran, the Soviets invading Afghanistan, stagflation, lineups for gasoline around the block thanks to a squeeze by the OPEC nations, not to mention Three Mile Island and the petty scandals

The controversial filmmaker whose crude Internet trailer was wrongly blamed by the White House for sparking last year´s deadly Benghazi attack vowed to finish his movie, which he said is aimed at fighting terrorism, not denigrating Islam. Breaking his silence from inside a facility under the authority of the federal Bureau of Prisons in southern California, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula told FoxNews.com in a series of phone interviews that his film "Innocence of Muslims" has been widely misunderstood, and not just in being singled out as causing the Sept. 11, 2012, attack

The Treasury Department loves redesigning our money. A new $20 bill began circulating a decade ago, the $10 was changed in 2006, and the $5 was modified in 2008.(snip)If the Treasury wants to change things, maybe it’s time to put a new president on the paper. In a poll released last week, CBS News and Vanity Fair magazine posed an interesting question: Which recent chief executive deserves the honor of a place on the currency? Ronald Reagan was the runaway favorite, with 38 percent. President Obama took 19 percent, but the questions were asked in April before the blizzard of scandals littered the landscape.

“We don’t take girls”: Hillary
Clinton and her NASA letter

The fiftieth anniversary of the first woman in space is a fitting hook to look back over the long process of enabling gender-independent access to the final frontier. One of the interesting secondary tales associated with this theme is the campaign story offered by Hillary Clinton that, in 1961–2, she wrote to NASA about her interest on becoming an astronaut, and they dismayed and angered her by replying, “We don’t take girls.” (snip) The story is clearly politically useful, and comments on its actual authenticity have predictably split along partisan lines.

In the latest black eye for the scandal-ridden State Department, a whistleblower claims she was run out of the foreign service after complaining about a consul general’s alleged office trysts with subordinates and hookers.Kerry Howard says she was bullied, harassed and forced to resign after she exposed US Consul General Donald Moore’s alleged security-threatening shenanigans in the Naples, Italy, office. As the post’s community-liaison officer, Howard was charged with keeping workplace peace and advising higher-ups on the state of morale, but when she revealed allegations about her boss, State Department officials swept it under the rug,

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. And Sarah blasted him on Twitter as a bully. Is that, is it, is he a bully? Is he a bad, what is he?

Politico’s Playbook has an excerpt from a new Ryan Lizza piece from the New Yorker that is not yet online. It contains a passage on the back-and-forth between labor and the Chamber that has a quote from a Rubio staffer that is going to raise eyebrows, to say the least: “There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, can’t cut it. There shouldn’t be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can’t get it, can’t do it, don’t want to do it. And so you can’t obviously discuss that publicly.” Here is the entire context:
