In its latest effort to slap Mitt Romney's "47 percent" comment, the Obama campaign on Monday tapped a young woman with Down syndrome to pull at the heartstrings of undecided voters. The Obama-Biden campaign's web page featured a "letter of the week" from a 25-year-old woman who wrote that "I am one of the 47% of Americans who fall under Mitt Romney's definition of 'entitled' and 'unable to take responsibility for my life.' I have Down syndrome." The letter comes on the heel of the campaign's TV ad playing in battleground states that
Comments: Wow. There sure is nothing too low and exploitative for this disgusting regime. Un.be.lievable.
A bit unrelated, but I was in Target this afternoon and I heard someone talking to another person; not loud or obnoxious. I turned into that aisle and there was a young lady with a big bendable feather type duster dusting the shelves filled with cans and asking her supervisor (who was nowhere to be seen) if she was doing it right, and commenting on how she was doing everything. It was sweet and charming and another lady obviously with the same idea as me had approached from the other end of the aisle and we both grinned at each other. The ''girl'' was doing a fine job and was so proud of how well she was doing it. Kudo's to Target, and I told them.
Safety nets are there for people who truly need them. No Republican I know of would cut them for people like this young lady. Would they cut programs that encourage generations of able-bodied people of normal intelligence to choose welfare over work? Yes - as they should.
Was just going to post that. Unbelievable that an abortion supporter would use a Down Syndrome woman in an ad. If Obama had his way they either would not be born or would be left to die after birth. After all his supporters comments about Trig Palin both during the 2008 election and after, it takes some kind of gall to put out an ad of this type. I'd like to see a little background on the woman in the ad. Are we sure she has Down Syndrome?
This sounds so contrived! If, indeed, "Brittany" does exist, I'll bet someone wrote that letter for her.
If she and the letter are authentic, my apologies...and a high-five to her for all she's accomplished. However, it's sad that she's been brain-washed into thinking Mitt Romney would be as dispassionate as Obama tries to depict him.
According to the IRS there are ~131 Million who pay taxes so that is the 53% who are carrying the 47%/ 116 Million that pay no taxes (wow); unbelievable...
Don't think one case of Downs Syndrome (not taxed ok ) is anything but a cheap shot to defend that 116 million who pay no taxes (just under half pay no taxes..unbelievable)
Americans like me who work our butts off and pay ~17% Federal of our income for taxes say Romney is right... got to be lots of dead wood in that 47%/116M pile; not to mention the $113 Billion/year it cost tax payers for ObozoX's illegals (study Federation for American Immigration Reform)
Romney should find the baby that nurse Jill Stanek discovered in a soiled-linens room at her hospital. The one she held and comforted. That baby must have a compelling story, too.
Or it would, if it hadn't been killed by what the law normally classifies as the crime of "depraved indifference." It died in Nurse Stanek's arms because of Obama's Illinois law making it a criminal act to give medical care to babies not murdered by the abortionist.
What I heard Mitt say on that recording was that the 47% that would vote for Obama could probably not be swung to Romney because so many were dependent on entitlements. When he said he was "not going to worry about them", I took it to mean that he would just have to accept that they were immovable. That's all.
Do I seem to have it right? I know Obama is trying to make it something it never was.

M. T. Suit understands these challenged persons. Didn't he once confess that he bowled like a ret***? Sorry but I find myself unable to type the word he used, having a special needs niece. Despicable little creature our prissy prezzy is.
Then I suggest that the Rep. go to Chicago or Philly and visit the hood. I am sure they could find some real representatives of the people Romney was talking about. He was not talking about Down's sufferers and we all know it.
#14, IMO you have it perfectly right. obama and his fellow travelers in the so-called "msm" are putting the lie to anything that shows him in a bad light and it it takes a person with Down syndrome to tug at the hearts of the uninformed voter, who should know better, so be it. That's how demonrats think. It won't work.
President Obama rejected the notion that the IRS’ targeting of Tea Party groups was illegal — or even improper — during his interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Thursday. Obama was at American University to sell his flailing health care law to the young people upon which the insurance exchanges heavily rely. As promised, Matthews allowed him to make his pitch with no tough questions or pushback. But the interview became interesting when the Hardball host asked why Americans were growing increasingly skeptical of government. Obama noted that the media never seems interested in government success stories. “When we do
Middle class Americans face a tough future because robots and machinery are eliminating their jobs, according to Steve Case, an entrepreneur who earned roughly $1 billion by creating the first successful internet firm, America Online. But Congress could help the situation by passing an immigration bill that would import some foreign entrepreneurs and almost 30 million low-skilled workers over the next decade, Case told an audience of D.C. lobbyists and lawyers gathered on Tuesday by the business-backed Bipartisan Policy Center. “I think it’s [a] tough” task to protect the middle class, Case said after being asked a question about automation by an
Upcoming regulations from the Obama administration in 2014 would cost the private sector $143.3 billion, according to a new report. The American Action Forum (AAF) examined the “unified agenda,” which lays out “regulatory priorities” for the next year, and was released shortly before Thanksgiving. The report documents regulations for 2014 from Obamacare, the EPA, Department of Energy, and others, revealing a regulatory system on “autopilot” that covers everything from calorie postings in vending machines to efficiency standards for portable air conditioners. The agenda includes 15 new “major” rules, which will cost at least $100 million per rule. Some of the more wide-ranging regulations,
Expect President Obama to confirm soon he will attend services in South African for the late Nelson Mandela. Officials have held off on a formal announcement as travel plans, logistics, and security are worked out; services for Mandela will be part of a mourning period in South Africa that will last about 10 days. The South African government has scheduled the state funeral for Dec. 15, a week from Sunday. There is also a memorial service scheduled for Dec. 10, which is Tuesday. In the meantime, Obama has directed that American flags be lowered to half-staff through Monday in honor of the freedom
A Pennsylvania Democrat called President Obama’s economic speech yesterday hosted by the Center for American Progress one of the best speeches ever given by an American leader. Obama called for increasing the minimum wage and decried a wage gap in America, saying reversing the trend is “the defining challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increased inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life and what we stand for around the globe,” he said. Obama also lauded himself as a great leader for pushing through his healthcare law. “You know, Dr
Through the magic combination of Obamacare and the IRS, volunteer firefighters may be considered “employees,” and their volunteer fire departments may be forced to give them healthcare. Or pay penalties that would force them to shut down. The International Association of Fire Chiefs has asked the Internal Revenue Service, which has partial oversight of the law, to clarify if current IRS treatment of volunteer firefighters as employees means their hose companies or towns must offer health insurance coverage or pay a penalty if they don’t. The organization representing the fire chiefs has been working on the issue with the IRS
Pollak said that because of Mandela´s embrace of reconciliation, a South Africa many thought was going to "erupt into a racial civil war" transitioned from apartheid peacefully. He also said that Mandela later rejected the violent aspects of the African National Congress and the more socialist aspects of his past and ended up obeying the constitution. Pollak said Mandela even "subjected himself to the will of the courts" while he was in power to set an example that he was not above the constitution. And like George Washington, Mandela, Pollak noted, accepted the constraints put on him and stepped down
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
Last summer on his $100 million family tour of Africa, Barack Obama hoped for a priceless photo op with Nelson Mandela, the ailing freedom pioneer who went from prison cell to the presidency of South Africa. Mandela´s family suggested that wouldn’t happen. So, the Obamas did a photo op in Mandela´s former prison cell. Which Obama’s White House quickly tweeted upon word of the icon´s passing at 95. [Skip] But Obama was also caught staring at television coverage of Mandela’s passing, which became Obama’s Photo of the Day.
Hardly a week goes by without Hillary Clinton receiving another award. Last month she was named a “Global Champion” by the International Medical Corps, received the American Patriot Award at the National Defense University Foundation and the Hermandad Award from the Mexican American Leadership Initiative. [Snip] At this rate, if a bunch of elderly left-wing Swedes toss her the Nobel Peace Prize early on, the way they did to Obama, it will barely rate mention among all the other glittering trophies that have been bestowed on a woman whose only actual accomplishment was being married to a crooked governor with
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
