President Donald Trump watched and enjoyed Steve Bannon’s interview with CBS anchor Charlie Rose on 60 Minutes, according to a report. “He thought that it was an articulate and forceful defense of him, as well as a very strong and very intelligent positioning of some of the core issues of the administration,” a person familiar with Trump’s thinking told the Washington Post. Bannon defended the president’s agenda, challenging establishment Republicans for trying to block it in Congress. “The Republican establishment is trying to nullify the 2016 election. That’s a brutal fact we have to face,” he said. Bannon said that

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has been getting weirder and weirder. She´s praised illegal aliens on the Capitol´s lawn, saying, "You make America more American" (Um, they, by definition, don´t). She´s said the Constitution does not grant people the right to shout "wolf" in a theater (it probably does, but you can´t yell "fire"). And she´s complained that President Trump visited Saudi Arabia first, saying “It wasn’t even alphabetical. I mean, Saudi Arabia!" (Nancy thinks he should have hit Afghanistan, then Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, etc.) The list goes on and on. At 77, Pelosi misspeaks all the time —

During an exclusive live interview with Hillary Clinton on Wednesday’s NBC Today to promote her new book about the 2016 presidential campaign, co-host Matt Lauer was eager to enable her to keep making excuses for her loss to Donald Trump. He urged the failed Democratic nominee to go further than she had in the memoir and say that Trump “stole the election.” “You say there’s so many coincidences, so many connections between people in the Trump campaign and Russia, but you stopped short of saying this, and I’m asking you if you will,” Lauer began. He then pressed: “Do you

Hillary Clinton seemed to add Benghazi to her already-long list of culprits to blame for her upset loss to Donald Trump last November, on the heels of the five-year anniversary of the terror attack. In her first live interview since the election timed with the release of her new memoir “What Happened,” Clinton on Wednesday brought up the controversy over the Benghazi terror attack in response to a question about her likability. Clinton said she was unfairly criticized, even suggesting the incident was no different than past tragedies dating back to the Reagan administration. “Take the Benghazi tragedy—you know, I have one of

The Air Force has awarded Boeing a $600 million modification to a previous contract to buy two commercial 747 jetliners, and convert them for the Air Force One. The additional money, according to an Air Force statement, is for design upgrades to the pair of planes that were originally destined to be sold to a now-bankrupt Russian airliner, which never took delivery. The contract is for the design of modifications to ensure the planes can accommodate the communications and security needs of the president. The actual work on the aircraft won´t begin until sometime next summer, and will require a

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign memoir includes a questionable interpretation of the central lesson of George Orwell’s novel “1984,” namely that individuals should trust those in positions of authority. Clinton’s memoir “What Happened,” released Tuesday, suggests the goal of the government-sanctioned torture featured prominently in Orwell’s novel is to erode trust in the authoritarian overlords who control all aspects of society. This perspective is diametrically opposed to the central lesson most readers have drawn from the book since it was published in 1949. “Attempting to define reality is a core feature of authoritarianism. This is what the Soviets

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer will dine Wednesday with President Trump at the White House to talk about their desire to pass legislation to protect young illegal immigrants from deportation. It will be the second dinner Trump holds this week with Democrats as he looks to cut major deals on immigration, spending, and tax reform. Pelosi, D-Calif., and Schumer, D-N.Y., want Congress to pass a standalone bill legalizing young people who came here illegally as children. The so-called Dreamers have been protected from deportation and allowed to obtain work permits under an Obama-era action

The Trump administration is considering reducing the number of refugees admitted to the United States over the next year to 50,000, current and former government officials told the New York Times Tuesday. As a deadline for Trump to set numbers for refugee admissions for next year approaches on October 1, the issue has set off intense debate inside the White House. Some of Trump’s advisers have argued for lower ceilings. Trump’s senior adviser for policy Stephen Miller has advocated for reducing it to 15,000, and his former chief strategist Steve Bannon was in favor of reducing it to 10,000. Trump on the campaign

The cleanup after Hurricane Irma is a massive undertaking, after the destructive storm hit Florida and neighboring states over the weekend. In Miami, a nun chipped in to clear trees in her neighborhood — and no one, it seems, can resist a story about a chainsaw-wielding nun. Sister Margaret Ann was spotted at work by an off-duty officer of the Miami-Dade Police Department, which posted video and images from the scene Tuesday. The department calls the sister´s work another sign that Miami´s community will work together to repair what Irma broke, writing on its Facebook page, "Thank you Sister and all of

Democrats tried attacking Donald Trump as unfit for the presidency. They’ve made the case that he’s ineffective, pointing to his failure to sign a single major piece of legislation into law after eight months in the job. They’ve argued that Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself and that his campaign was in cahoots with Russia. None of it is working. Data from a range of focus groups and internal polls in swing states paint a difficult picture for the Democratic Party heading into the 2018 midterms and 2020 presidential election. It suggests that Democrats are naive if they believe

Alarmed that President Trump may soon take steps that could unravel the international nuclear agreement with Iran, more than 80 disarmament experts urged him on Wednesday to reconsider and said the accord was working. In a joint statement, the experts said the 2015 agreement, negotiated by the Obama administration and the governments of Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia, was a “net plus for international nuclear nonproliferation efforts.” Because of the monitoring powers contained in the agreement, they said, Iran’s capability to produce nuclear weapons had been sharply reduced.

A solid majority of voters support President Trump´s outreach to Democrats to make deals he can´t with Republicans, according to a new survey that endorses his new relationship with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, even 51 percent of Republican voters and self-described conservatives support the president´s actions. The survey is more bad news for Republicans because it shows GOP voters eagerly endorsing Trump´s decision to abandon his party. And it shows that voters have little faith in their House and Senate leaders to help the president. Trump has spent the summer

There is probably not an adult in America who hasn´t experienced having someone cut in line. It’s exasperating not only because it’s fundamentally unfair, but because it’s highly disrespectful of those already waiting. More confrontational personalities will tell the person to go to the end of the line. Others will say nothing. Nobody likes it. Would it make you feel any better if the line breaker walked his cute teen-aged daughter to the front of the line and inserted her after you´ve been waiting an hour? It would be a deft move, intended to disarm you, but it would still be

As North Korea demonstrates America’s vulnerability to ballistic missiles, and as President Trump pledges “many billions of dollars” for “the anti-missile,” establishment Republicans are poised to use missile defense talk today in the same way they did in the wake of Ronald Reagan’s commitment to it: profit politically from rhetoric, funnel money to the best-connected contractors, and accomplish nothing. Since Reagan restored missile defense to the nation’s agenda 34 years ago, Republicans have led the spending of some 80 billion dollars on its behalf. But they have acquiesced as the U.S government has crafted each and every program according to
