The football star who shot to fame because of his role in the hit film ´The Blind Side´ now has another title to his name after his team won the Super Bowl. Michael Oher celebrated on the field amid the confetti with the Tuohy family, who adopted him in high school and helped lead him to both academic and athletic success. ´I came so far from nothing to a Super Bowl champion. I´m in shock right now!´ he told Good Morning America´s Josh Elliott. ´We won the Super Bowl!´ adoptive mother Leigh Ann Tuohy said as

Chris Huhne´s resignation as the member of Parliament for Eastleigh will mean a difficult by-election for the Conservatives and the Lib Dems. Huhne won in 2010 with a majority of just 3,864, making Eastleigh one of Grant Shapps´s target seats. This is particularly awkward for David Cameron. In order to reassure his sceptical backbenchers, who think he´s made far too many concessions to Nick Clegg as it is, he´ll have to go all out to win, with frequent trips to the constituency. Not only will that mean an unseemly punch up between the Coalition parties

Geraldo Rivera recently announced on his radio show that he was considering a run as a Republican for the Senate from the state of New Jersey. But as is Geraldo´s wont, he´s already criticizing the very party whose blessing he seeks. On Jan. 31, Rivera told his radio audience that he is "truly contemplating" a run for Senate and he wants to represent the Republican Party. But only a day later, on Fox News´ "Studio B With Shepard Smith," he was heard criticizing the GOP as a "party of scolds" and saying

Who is running the Justice Department? It certainly appears evident, as President Obama enters his second term, that leftist radicals have a seat at the table inside Justice and are making both policy and personnel decisions. As Judicial Watch has previously disclosed, the Obama Department of Justice (DOJ) has colluded with a number of leftist special interest groups. For example, the DOJ worked closely with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) regarding the dismissal of the voter intimidation lawsuit filed against the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.

One of the women alleged to be a prostitute connected to New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez has denied the claim, which was first put forward by a mysterious e-mailer. Yaneisi Fernandez told Spanish-language television station Univision she had never seen Menendez before. “I’ve never participated in those activities, don’t know those people or that man,” Fernandez, 21, told Univision. Politico obtained a translation of the report. (Snip )Williams’ e-mails were circulated to reporters last year, but with no one able to confirm his information, the mainstream media did not publish the allegations and the story was confined

The Super Bowl ad sidelined by CBS for taking shots at soda giants Pepsi and Coke can claim a victory online. The 46-second spot for SodaStream — a machine that lets people make their own bubbly beverages at home — has been viewed more than 2.5 million times since Wednesday. The buzz started after ad man Alex Bogusky, who’s behind the company’s campaign, questioned CBS for yanking the commercial from its lineup. Israel-based SodaStream had purchased air time during the Super Bowl’s fourth quarter, according to Ad Age. “Soda Stream has the right to show competitors,” Bogusky tweeted.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is telling a different story about Benghazi than the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency. If the story Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, is telling is correct, then the story the State Department Accountability Review Board (ARB) and the Central Intelligence Agency have told is not. If the story the State Department and the CIA have told is correct, than Gen. Dempsey is telling an inaccurate story to explain why the Defense Department sent no help to the State Department and CIA personnel

One day after President Obama said "yes," he thinks the Boy Scouts of America should admit homosexuals -- to expose them to "opportunities and leadership" -- dozens of conservative groups are running a newspaper ad, urging the Boy Scouts to "show courage" and "stand for timeless values." The 41 conservative organizations, in a full-page ad in Monday´s USA Today, said it would be a "grave mistake" for BSA to change their longstanding policy against having openly homosexual Scout leaders or Scouts. Sen. Ron Wyden has spent two years demanding that the Obama administration share its legal opinions justifying the targeted assassinations of suspected American terrorists abroad. After all, as a member of the Intelligence Committee, the Oregon Democrat is entitled (and cleared) to know. How can his panel provide oversight if officials won’t say what legal authority they have, let alone in which countries it applies? The White House has spent those two years stonewalling. “The administration’s position is basically, ‘Trust us,’” Wyden tells National Journal. “Nowhere in the charge to the committee does oversight get defined as trusting the

When the state´s longest-serving governor and former GOP presidential candidate signed off on plans to shrink funding for family planning -- and revamped the women´s healthcare program, excluding Planned Parenthood from participating -- his place in history became clear, she said. "He personally will go down in history as an authoritarian -- a dictatorial, unacceptable American," Steinem, 78, told the Star-Telegram on Friday before speaking to a crowd of more than 800

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — The biggest donors in the Republican Party are financing a new group to recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s efforts to win control of the Senate. The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races.

Boys score as well as or better than girls on most standardized tests, yet they are far less likely to get good grades, take advanced classes or attend college. Why? A study coming out this week in The Journal of Human Resources gives an important answer. Teachers of classes as early as kindergarten factor good behavior into grades — and girls, as a rule, comport themselves far better than boys.

Paris - Mali´s foreign minister is urging international cooperation to root out extremists who littered the north of his country with land mines and who pose "a global threat." He also hinted that Malians aren´t ready for French troops to pull out just yet. Tieman Hubert Coulibaly spoke in an interview with The Associated Press on Monday in Paris, where he is visiting to discuss with French authorities the 3-week-old French-led military intervention against al-Qaida-linked fighters in the vast West African nation. In recent days, land mine explosions killed four Malian soldiers and two civilians in northern Mali.

Only one or two centuries late, Virginia lawmakers have decided it is none of their business if unmarried couples share a roof. So the legislators are now working diligently to repeal the state’s law against “lewd and lascivious cohabitation.” Huzzahs all ’round for that. But do not unclutch thy bodice yet. Virginia law is riddled with antiquated provisions meant to govern the “morals and decency” of the fair people of the commonwealth. And while the law against shacking up apparently never gets enforced, others do.(Snip)Fornication remains forbidden under the Code of Virginia, Section 18.2-344.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- The shadowy tipster who made explosive allegations involving U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez and underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic named names. He gave descriptions of the women, and in some cases, phone numbers and addresses. Despite those details, the women are nowhere to be found. A week after the claims made headlines in the United States and on this Caribbean island, the alleged prostitutes have disappeared. An attorney who once represented two of the women said he hadn’t spoken to them in months, and then stopped returning phone calls himself.

Secretary John Kerry greeted his new colleagues at the State Department on Monday with a nod to his female predecessors. “Here’s the big question before the country and the world and the State Department: After the last eight years, can a man actually run the State Department?” Kerry quipped. Kerry is taking the reins from Hillary Clinton. Clinton succeeded Condoleezza Rice, who served as secretary of state from 2005-2009. “As the saying goes, I have big heels to fill,” Kerry said. Kerry thanked Clinton for her service and pledged to continue advocating for State Department staff,

Prompted by the Upper West Side slayings of two children by their nanny, a former Navy SEAL has started a company offering to match hypervigilant parents with the ultimate in protection — female military veterans as caregivers. “That family even went down to the Dominican Republic thinking they were screening the nanny, but they didn’t really know who she was,” Tactical Nanny creator Jonathan Gilliam said of Marina and Kevin Krim, who lost two of their young children in the horrible attack last year.

One of President Ronald W. Reagan’s closest aides took the East Wing White House tour Jan. 22 and shared his thoughts about the president who left office 24 years ago. “The best part about being back in the White House is that things don’t change, at least the physical part,” said James F. Kuhn, now a senior manager at Washington’s Broaddus & Associates, but who for more than 20 years was the body man, advance man and personal assistant and friend to President Ronald W. Reagan. Entering the White House was easier in those days, he said.
