Tim Tebow´s future in the NFL as a starting quarterback may be in jeopardy, as new Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said on Thursday he had no plans to acquire the highly popular yet polarizing quarterback. "I can´t imagine a scenario in which he´ll be a Jacksonville Jaguar -- even if he´s released," Caldwell said, at his introductory press conference. The New York Jets are expected to release Tebow after a year in which he did not gel with Jets head coach Rex Ryan and the team´s offense. Tebow is from Jacksonville, and many thought he was destined to be a Jaguar,
NBC is being accused of engaging in some pro-abortion propaganda with its latest episode of Parenthood. The hourlong NBC drama that aired Tuesday night featured teenage girl Amy (Skyler Day) aborting her fetus at a pristine Planned Parenthood clinic while boyfriend Drew (Miles Heizer) sat nervously in a waiting room. While liberal publications such as Salon.com and Huffington Post largely praised the episode for its bravery and realism in tackling a touchy subject during primetime, right-leaning outlets had a much different take. “Yet another very special episode where TV characters
Washington - A Drug Enforcement Administration agent arranged to hire a prostitute for a Secret Service agent in Colombia in advance of a presidential visit last year, according to a Justice Department report made public Thursday. The DEA agent stationed in Cartagena, Colombia, arranged for a prostitute to give a visiting Secret Service supervisory special agent a massage at the DEA agent´s residence, a one-page summary of the Justice Department investigation stated. The pair later had a sexual encounter and the drug agent arranged to pay the woman, the summary stated.
The nation’s leading liberal women’s group, the National Organization for Women, is demanding to know why President Barack Obama has failed to make more high-profile appointments of women to his administration. “President Obama has made a number of high-profile appointments recently — four at last count — and they are all white men,” NOW said in a blast email to supporters Thursday evening, with the subject line, “President Obama, Where are the Women?” The organization noted that while groups like NOW hoped United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice would succeed
The next time you hear a fellow American bemoaning the lack of Washington bipartisanship, tell him to cheer up. There is one issue on which Congress still resoundingly agrees: gun rights. Bear that in mind, too, the next time you read a story about the "new" political debate over gun control. An almost cosmic disconnect has been building in the political sphere since the tragedy of Sandy Hook. On the one side is the gun-control community, which sniffed a rare political opening and is determined to use it to the max. Vice President Joe Biden´s gun-violence task force
Gun Control: As the administration considers repealing the Second Amendment via executive order, a reminder of its true purpose comes from a country that has suffered greatly from murderous and criminal tyrants. ´The president is going to act," said Vice President Joe Biden, who is conducting meetings all week on possible gun-control measures in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings in Newtown, Conn. "There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken. We haven´t decided what that is yet, but we´re compiling it all." Never mind the Constitution says the right to keep and
NEWPORT CITY -- The man accused of crushing seven sheriff´s department vehicles with a gigantic farm tractor in August has been found incompetent to stand trial. The court ordered a competency evaluation for Roger Pion, 34, of Newport after the defense asked the court to find Pion incompetent and the state asked for an evaluation. Pion had already been involuntarily committed to the custody of the Vermont commissioner of mental health in a non-criminal proceeding under the state statute that allows involuntary commitment after a finding that someone is in need of treatment.
The right of the people to keep and bear arms is an extension of the natural right to self-defense and a hallmark of personal sovereignty. It is specifically insulated from governmental interference by the Constitution and has historically been the linchpin of resistance to tyranny. Yet the progressives in both political parties stand ready to use the coercive power of the government to interfere with the exercise of that right by law-abiding persons because of the gross abuse of that right by some crazies in our midst.
As a senator and presidential candidate, Barack Obama said that he detested budget deficits. In 2006, when the aggregate national debt was almost $8 trillion less than today, he blasted George W. Bush´s chronic borrowing and refused to vote for upping the debt ceiling: "Increasing America´s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ´the buck stops here.´" In 2008, Obama further blasted Bush´s continued Keynesian borrowing: "The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China
The U.S. Labor Department´s website includes a database that shows $5,159,629,434 in improper unemployment insurance payments for all 50 states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia for the period July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012. The database also shows that 2.85 percent, or $1.28 billion, of the total unemployment insurance payments ($45.2 billion) in that timeframe were the result of fraud. (See here and click on XLS sheet for “2012 Calendar Year data.”) On the “browse by topic” section of the Department of Labor website is a link for
"This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility."Barack Obama to Dmitry Medvedev, March 26 The puzzle of the Chuck Hagel nomination for defense secretary is that you normally choose someone of the other party for your Cabinet to indicate a move to the center, but Hagel´s foreign policy views are to the left of Barack Obama´s, let alone the GOP´s. Indeed, they are at the fringe of the entire Senate. So what´s going on? Message sending. Obama won re-election. He no longer has to trim, to appear more moderate than his true instincts. He has
A new video game featuring a black alien female superhero delivered to Earth to fight global warming is about to hit the market thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Obama administration. The National Endowment for the Arts is funding the Spelman College of Atlanta, Ga.´s multi-episode game called "HERadventure." In the grant announcement made last year, the NEA said the story "focuses on a young female superhero sent to Earth to save her own planet from devastation because of climate changes caused by social issues impacting women and girls."
Amid the current propaganda campaign for gun control, NewsBusters.org calls our attention to a C-Span video from 1995 (unearthed last March by Breitbart.com) in which Eric Holder, then the District of Columbia´s top federal prosecutor, outlines a plan for dealing with what he apparently regarded as the scourge of firearms: "What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that´s not cool, that it´s not acceptable, (Snip) Fourteen years later, Holder was appointed attorney general. In that position he hatched a brilliant plot to embarrass Mexican drug lords.
The National Rifle Association blasted Thursday´s meeting with Vice President Joe Biden, stating "this administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation´s most pressing problems." Biden´s task force promised the meeting would be one of many scheduled this week, so the group can gather input before recommending actions on gun control. But the NRA disputes that was the purpose of the meeting. "We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe," the statement reads, "and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment.
The liberal Democrat political machine has been in high gear seeking restrictions on gun ownership ever since the December 11, 2012 massacre of twenty young children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut. According to the left, that hideous event constitutes inarguable proof that America needs to rescind the Second Amendment. For the good of everyone, and particularly “the children,” the guns must go. It might seem difficult to surpass such phony liberal sanctimony. Yet during the last days of 2012, as the contrived “fiscal cliff crisis” reached its do or die moment,
There are cultural moments, then there are cultural moments. On the very day that Americans discover that Beyonce Knowles will sing the "Star Spangled Banner" during President Obama´s inauguration on Jan. 20, GQ magazine has another announcement regarding the beauteous chanteuse. She´s their new cover girl. In red leopard print underwear and a very appreciated sports top. "The 100 sexiest women of the 21st century. Starting with Beyonce," the magazine advises. And in the words of the sages, but not the political strategists, "that´s showbiz."
MSNBC host and commentator Melissa Harris Perry surprisingly defended the lack of diversity in President Obama´s second term cabinet in an appearance on the network this morning. Harris Perry says just because someone is of one gender and not the other or has a certain skin color doesn´t mean they are representative of that specific group. Harris Perry cites Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as an example, who she says doesn´t represent "the vast majority" of African-Americans. MSNBC host and commentator Melissa Harris Perry says we should "be careful" when it comes to calling out the
RUSH: Now, the New York Times headline from last night: "For Americans Under 50, Stark Findings on Health." Now, folks, here we go. The New York Times´ story essentially says here that gun violence is a health issue. Here´s how their story begins: "Younger Americans die earlier and live in poorer health than their counterparts in other developed countries, with far higher rates of death from guns, car accidents and drug addiction, according to a new analysis of health and longevity in the United States. ... "The 378-page study, by a panel of experts convened by the Institute of Medicine
Younger Americans die earlier and live in poorer health than their counterparts in other developed countries, with far higher rates of death from guns, car accidents and drug addiction, according to a new analysis of health and longevity in the United States. Researchers have known for some time that the United States fares poorly in comparison with other rich countries, a trend established in the 1980s. But most studies have focused on older ages, when the majority of people die. The findings were stark. Deaths before age 50 accounted for about two-thirds of the difference in life expectancy between
Mayor Rahm Emanuel today indicated he will put forward his own city gun control ordinance in the next few days after state lawmakers did not reach agreement on the divisive issue. Emanuel refused to give details about what specifically his proposal will address. But he said he isn´t willing to wait until state lawmakers take up gun control. Last month, a federal appeals court tossed out the state´s longstanding ban on carrying concealed guns in public. The court gave the state six months to set up new rules. During his remarks today, Emanuel hit on
The warning signs of a tyrannical takeover of our Constitutional Republic have been flashing red for some time now and are now reaching a fever pitch. Despite the flashing signs, the clamor of the alarms and the cries of the watchmen, most Americans of this era remain in denial or have been rendered intellectually catatonic by busily chasing immediate gratification in the form of the newest version of the iPhone, iPad, or whatever “i” device will satisfy their ADHD addled intellect. Others have simply chosen to adhere to a normalcy bias that is continuously fed by the familiar
California is at risk of losing its youthful image as the state is struggling with a declining rate of child birth. Paired with a large number of ‘babyboomers’ expected to retire, and reduced migration, the state’s prosperity is at risk In 1970, children made up 33 per cent of California’s population, a number which is expected to shrink to just over a fifth by 2030, a report by the University of Southern California shows. This means that the world’s eight largest economy - and the most populous state in the U.S. - is going to
I think this is what is called a slam dunk. Barack Obama has now proposed filling the three positions in the US administration most concerned with the security of the nation and the defence of the free world, those at State, Defence and the CIA, by three men who have all taken up positions which can only strengthen those who threaten the security of America and the survival of the free world. Obama proposes to instal as Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel. Six years ago, Senator Hagel refused to sign a letter pressing the European Union to declare the Iranian-backed Link corrected by Staff.
Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday compared restrictions on guns to auto safety regulations such as air bags, by saying neither the gun nor the auto industries wanted regulations to save lives. “Well they didn’t want to have air bags. Well, guess what? We have air bags. We’re saving lives,” Biden told reporters before a meeting with several stakeholders on the gun-control issue, as he plans to craft a set of proposals for President Barack Obama by Tuesday, Jan. 15. The proposals are expected to include a renewed ban on so-called assault weapons, and beefed-up background checks.
Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, known for his "Rumsfeld Rules" picked up during 50 years of public and private employment, has nailed down the biggest Washington book deal in a year, a blockbuster seven-figure contract to put his rules of the road down on paper for the first time ever. Broadside Books, a conservative imprint of HarperCollins, said "Rumsfeld´s Rules" will be published in May and it will break his No. One Rule: It will include more than 10. Rumsfeld, 80, told Secrets exclusively: "Over the years I have had the good fortune of working with some
