The Social Security program ran a $47.8 billion deficit in fiscal 2012 as the program brought in $725.429 billion in cash and paid $773.247 for benefits and overhead expenses, according to official data published by Social Security Administration. Over the weekend, The Journal News newspaper published maps with the addresses and names of pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties. The information for the map was legally obtained by the paper through a Freedom of Information Act request, however it sparked a nationwide controversy among those who considered the map a privacy violation. Listening to the latest media chatter, one could get the impression that murder in the US is historically bad and getting worse. As the Reverend Al Sharpton put it, "The time for their talk is over.
