Marijuana dispenser:
A classic penny-stock story

If you told someone you expected a tiny company with virtually no assets and income to go from being worth pennies per share to having a market value of more than $2 billion, they’d probably think you were drunk or high. That kind of fantastic story is the stuff of spam e-mails sent by pump-and-dump scammers, or the realm of tiny newsletters — sometimes in cahoots with stock touts — where seemingly every penny stock is a rocket ship ready to launch. But it’s also precisely what happened last week with Medbox Inc., a company that makes medical-marijuana dispensing machines,

Gov. Christie´s celebrity star keeps rising higher. Three days after he did a not-half-bad bit on Saturday Night Live´s "Weekend Update," it emerged that Christie has landed a spot on Barbara Walters´ list of the "10 Most Fascinating People" of 2012. Walters went to the State House in Trenton on Tuesday to interview the governor and his wife, Mary Pat, for the 90-minute ABC special, to air Dec. 12. The news that Christie made Walters´ cut came on the same day the New York Times reported he has been busy trying to heal a rift

This week’s flare-up between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has rekindled the discussion about Israel’s 2005 withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. But amid all the debate over the wisdom of that withdrawal, one point seems to have been lost. The administration of George W. Bush put in writing its full support of Israel’s right to security and defensible borders as the disengagement approached. Though the Obama administration pointedly rejected the notion that it was bound by that agreement, the Gaza withdrawal was yet another item of proof that Israeli leaders are willing to make sacrifices

Today, the White House officially refused to release photos of US officials during the September 11 terrorist attacks on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that ended with the deaths of four Americans. CBS News requested the photos on October 31; the White House has routinely released photos showing members of the Obama administration in their hero poses during national security crises. That happened most famously with pictures of the Obama administration key players clustered into the White House situation room during the raid on Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan.

Benghazi, Libya - After more than two months, Libya´s investigation into the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi appears in limbo. Key security commanders and witnesses say they were never questioned. No suspects have been named, and gunmen seen participating in the assault walk freely in the eastern Libyan city. Hanging over the probe is a fear of reprisals from extremist militiamen. Farag al-Fazani, a young commander of a Libyan security force commissioned to protect the U.S. post at the time of the Sept. 11 attack, says he sees militants he recognizes from that chaotic night.

In a potential escalation of the Syrian conflict, Turkey asked NATO on Wednesday for Patriot missiles to bolster its air defenses against its southern neighbor. A letter to NATO included the "formal request" that the alliance send "air defense elements," according to a Turkish government statement that cited "the threats and risks posed by the continuing crisis in Syria to our national security." The statement added that the NATO Council would convene "shortly" to consider the matter. NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a Twitter post that the request would be considered without delay.

Tampa — Danny Crane bragged that he was the "most decorated veteran in Florida." He claimed he had been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Purple Hearts, an Air Medal and other war-related awards. He said he was injured fighting in Iraq, he was shot six times, lost vision in his right eye, had 24 plates in his face and broke all his ribs. He told people he did tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. And he told Veterans Affairs he had post-traumatic stress disorder. None of this was true. In fact, Crane was discharged from the Army after serving less than three months, and he never fought in a war.

Republicans have the same basic attitude toward conspiracy theories as the Plains Indians had toward the buffalo – they are the basis of life, even religion, and no part, no matter how minor, should go unexploited. Hence Senator John McCain’s milking of the Benghazi attack. Or, rather, not the attack itself but the Obama administration’s response to it. He and other Republicans seem to think that the White House, and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, played down the possibility that Al Qaeda operatives were behind the attack, so that President Obama could boast on the campaign trail that his

Cario - A senior Libyan security official was assassinated outside his home in the eastern city of Benghazi, officials said on Wednesday, the same city where the United States ambassador and three other Americans were killed at their diplomatic compound in September. The Libyan official’s death was the latest in a series of mysterious killings that have raised fears about the country’s precarious postwar security. The official, Faraj Mohammed al-Drissi, who had held the post of Benghazi’s security director for only a few weeks, was fatally shot late Tuesday night as he was returning from work,

Supporters of President Obama received an email outlining the president´s position on the "fiscal cliff" Wednesday, the first evidence of his plan to use his massive campaign infrastructure to advocate for policy goals. On Tuesday, the president´s campaign manager, Jim Messina, said the system built for the releection effort — including its huge voter and donor databases that were widely credited with helping secure a victory — would be used increasingly to advocate for policy goals. The email highlights Obama´s ideas to avoid the tax hikes and spending cuts scheduled to go into effect next year.

Conservative economists are paying attention to the man behind the curtain and not liking what they see. At a meeting in a Manhattan hotel on Nov. 20, the so-called Shadow Open Market Committee criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke for an ultra-easy monetary policy that will, in their opinion, lead ultimately to dangerously higher inflation. “We aren’t in Kansas anymore,” said Columbia University economist Charles Calomiris, referring to the mind-bending changes in the Fed’s monetary policy under Bernanke’s chairmanship. That’s not the same as calling Bernanke the new Wizard of Oz, but it’s close.

Guest panelists included Dr. Andrew Bostom, Diana West, and Stephen Coughlin. The event was taped in its entirety and is available here.

I didn´t know Jane Fonda was still around either. But sure enough, the soon-to-be-75 actress, left-wing activist, fitness fanatic and general flake is not only sitting up and taking solid food -- health food by the look of her, she doesn´t have enough fat on her to make a candle -- has just received another award. Something called the L.A. Press Club has bestowed its annual "Visionary Award" on Hanoi Jane. Why? I wondered that too. The club explains that the award is bestowed on someone in the entertainment industry (is Jane still entertaining?)

Chicago - Feeling the pinch of the sluggish economic recovery, many Americans setting out on the nation´s annual Thanksgiving migration had to sacrifice summer vacations, rely on relatives for airfare or scour the Web for travel deals to ensure they made it home. It´s not just tight family finances making travel tough. Airlines struggling to save on jet fuel and other expenses have cut the number of flights, leading to a jump in airfares. Those hitting the roads face high gas prices and rising tolls. Now, with talk of the nation sliding off a "fiscal cliff" come January, many travelers said

It is a sad irony at this time when Thanksgiving Day is being celebrated in America, that one of the things Americans had to be most thankful about – their liberty – is going away. It is not simply in danger of going away, as it was throughout the last century and over the last thirteen years; it is on its way out. Through propaganda, education, disinformation, indoctrination, and imposed ignorance, the political left has succeeded in subverting a segment of the American population sufficient to ensure their political power in perpetuity.

Since the FDA´s December 2006 warning letter to NECC, both sides have come under intense scrutiny. State and federal regulators, including the FDA,
