Down-heartened pizza tycoon John Schnatter received some pre-holiday cheer on Friday when a conservative group declared it to be national Papa John´s Appreciation Day. Upset following President Obama´s re-election which confirmed the Affordable Care Act into law, Schnatter was boosted by ´Rebooting America´ and their drive to encourage thousands to buy two pizza´s today. Reminiscent in tone to August´s Chick-fil-A´s Appreciation Day, but not as succesful, Rebooting America claimed more than 21,000 Facebook users acted with their stomachs to back the pizza chief´s stance against Obamacare.

TAMPA -The landlord fixed up Ray Smith´s Gulfport apartment recently and bought the disabled Vietnam veteran a 55-inch television. The first thing Smith saw when he turned it on was a news story about the attack Sept. 11 on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Four Americans were killed in the attack, including Smith´s estranged son, Sean Smith, Ambassador Chris Stevens and former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. "It was devastating," Smith said Friday morning as hearings on Benghazi were taking place on Capitol Hill. His landlord´s son, watching with Smith, turned off the TV

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan- For President Barack Obama, expanding U.S. influence in Asia is more than just countering China or opening up new markets to American businesses. It´s also about building his legacy. Fresh off re-election, Obama will make a significant investment in that effort during a quick run through Southeast Asia that begins Sunday. In addition to stops in Thailand and Cambodia, the president will make an historic visit to Myanmar, where his administration has led efforts to ease the once pariah nation out of international isolation. The trip marks Obama´s fourth visit to Asia

With new cybersecurity legislation failing to pass the Senate this week, expectations are growing that the White House will soon step in with an executive order to shore up cyberdefenses for the power grid, water purification, and other vital systems. White House officials have said that while the president prefers a broad legislative solution, the executive branch would have to act this year if Congress did not. A document purporting to be a leaked draft of the executive order has been on the Internet since September.

United States Secret Service agents were taken aback on seeing large water monitors wandering the grounds of Government House during security inspections yesterday ahead of US President Barack Obama´s visit. They mistook them for the ferocious, carnivorous komodo dragons found in parts of Indonesia, a Government House source said. Thai officials calmed their nerves, explaining to them the creatures are relatively harmless. Monitor lizards are commonly found at Government House as the compound is surrounded by canals.US embassy officials accompanying the team told the agents the reptiles could also be found at the US embassy office on Witthayu Road.

Hello. I’m Kelly Ayotte—a U.S. Senator from New Hampshire. We’ve had a spirited debate this year about the future of our country. And one thing is clear: the American people expect Republicans and Democrats to work together to solve the difficult challenges we face. For too long, partisan bickering has paralyzed Washington.

In a scandal looking more and more like Fast and Furious, information is coming out revealing what may be the real reason why the Obama administration refused to provide military support to save Americans in Benghazi. Obama was terrified the public would find out that American weapons had been given to Libyan terrorists, who then used them against Americans in the attack.

Israel has targeted the headquarters of Hamas leaders and other key facilities in Gaza, on the fourth day of Israeli air strikes in the territory. Prime Minister Ismail Haniya´s office, which Egypt´s PM had visited on Friday, was among the buildings destroyed. At least 39 Palestinians and three Israelis have died since Israel killed Hamas´s military chief on Wednesday. Israel earlier put 75,000 reservists on stand-by amid speculation of an impending ground invasion. Militants in Gaza have continued to fire rockets into Israel, after aiming at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Friday.

San Francisco - The scandal surrounding the sudden resignation of an adulterous CIA director has stunned the American public not just for its prominent cast of characters, but also because of the ease with which authorities appeared to have traipsed through personal email accounts. Technology has transformed communications much faster than the law, giving U.S. authorities at all levels the power to routinely search reams of intimate emails, texts and instant messages, with much lower burdens of proof as far as the relevance to a criminal case.

Washington--The two women at the center of the David Petraeus scandal — the biographer with whom he had an extramarital affair and the socialite who received worrisome emails that led investigators to uncover the illicit relationship — visited the White House on separate and apparently unrelated occasions. Neither woman met with President Barack Obama during their visits. Petraeus resigned as CIA director last week after acknowledging an affair with writer Paula Broadwell. In briefings Friday with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, the retired four-star general was apologetic and regretful and insisted that his resignation was related only to his personal behavior.

Hi, everybody. Four years after the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes, our economy is growing again and creating jobs. But we have much more to do. Our task now is to build on that progress. Because this nation only succeeds when we’ve got a growing, thriving middle class. That’s what drives me. That’s what I campaigned on for the past year.

Manhandling Hostess, Big Labor

Politics: Union intransigence and unrealistic expectations at Hostess Brands have forced the bakery to shut its doors permanently and throw 18,500 people out of work. So much for Big Labor caring about the little guy. A down economy and two restructurings in three years left Hostess, maker of Twinkies and Sno Balls, in dire fiscal straits. The company warned its workers, union and nonunion, to make concessions or everyone would go down in a liquidation. Instead, one union, the AFL-CIO-affiliated Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International (BCTGM), imagined the company was bluffing and went on strike.

The 23-year-old son of the accountant who helped Bernie Madoff hide his Ponzi scheme shot himself in his apartment in Ohio, police said yesterday. Jeremy Friehling’s shocking suicide comes two years after Madoff’s son, Mark, hanged himself with a dog leash in his family’s SoHo apartment on the second anniversary of his father’s arrest. Friehling was the son of embattled accountant David Friehling, who pleaded guilty in 2009 to helping conceal Madoff’s $65 billion Ponzi scheme.

ROCKY MOUNT -- The 286 people who work in the Merita bread factory on North Church Street are out of work following Friday’s announcement that parent company Hostess will seek permission to end operations and liquidate its assets. About 75 of the workers participated in a nationwide strike that started at midnight Tuesday. Hostess Brands had warned the workers to return to work by 5 p.m. Thursday or face the company’s liquidation. The deadline came and went as picketers stood around a heater under umbrellas in the rain. “It’s five o’ clock and nobody’s crying,” one woman yelled.

U.S. intelligence told President Barack Obama and senior administration officials within 72 hours of the Benghazi tragedy that the attack was likely carried out by local militia and other armed extremists sympathetic to al-Qaida in the region, officials directly familiar with the information told the Washington Guardian on Friday. Based on electronic intercepts and human intelligence on the ground, the early briefings after the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya identified possible organizers and participants. Most were believed to be from a local Libyan militia group called Ansar al-Sharia that is sympathetic to al-Qaida,

1. House still in GOP hands Republicans held onto most of the gains made in the 2010 midterm elections, enabling conservatives to keep Obama from imposing a radical agenda on the nation in his second term. House Speaker John Boehner signaled as much, saying on election night that Americans sent a clear message by keeping the House in GOP hands. “With this vote, the American people have also made clear that there is no mandate for raising tax rates,” Boehner said. 2. Popular vote still close With a 50.5 percent to 48 percent popular vote deficit, Romney outperformed McCain’s percentage

Instead, McCain got testy when pressed to say why he wasn’t there.

Remove the Carriers

Several months ago, I asked a retired admiral what sign the United States could give that its patience had truly worn thin with Iran. “Remove the carriers from the Persian Gulf,” he responded. At first, that struck me as dumb: The Iranians would depict the American withdrawal as another sign that the United States was weak and in retreat. “Don’t worry,” he assured me. “Any Revolutionary Guardsmen worth his weight would understand.” The Persian Gulf is shallow and the international shipping lanes relatively narrow. The Iranian navy has long drilled swarming American vessels with small boats.

CBS ran a puff piece Friday morning on President Obama´s visit to hurricane-ravaged Staten Island, which stood in stark contrast to its hostile treatment of President Bush´s visit to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. CBS played into the Obama PR strategy, simply noting that he "pledged the government´s support" to Staten Island residents and "met with families who´ve lost everything." In addition, they aired his plea for the insurance companies to support the victims, afterward quoting residents who were upset with the insurance companies. Meanwhile, CBS had no such love for President Bush in 2005 when they reported

David Petraeus told Congress Friday in closed hearings that the CIA believed from the start that the September 11 attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi were by terrorists. That leaves one VIP who´s still missing from Congressional scrutiny: Hillary Clinton. GOP Congressman Peter King said Mr. Petraeus´s testimony differed from what the former CIA director told Congress immediately after the attacks. Mr. King also said Mr. Petraeus said that the CIA´s original talking points on the attacks were edited. The altered version became the basis for U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice´s misleading

There are 15 states with photo ID requirements for voting. Mr. Obama lost in all of them. In places with the weakest controls, specifically counties in Florida, Ohio, Colorado, and Pennsylvania, he generally drew turnouts in the 90% or greater range and won by better than 95% of the vote. Losers tend to look for external explanations, and a lot of conservatives looking at numbers like those from Florida´s St. Lucie County (where Mr. Obama got 247,713 votes from only 175,554 registered voters) are starting to question the legitimacy of the electoral results as reported.

The day of reckoning is here. For over 30 years, the United States government and the institutions that drive public opinion have made like Susan Rice when it comes to the ideological threat that Islamic supremacists pose to freedom, fabricating reasons to remain in denial. Thus inured, the American people have elected, and now reelected, a president notoriously fond of America-bashing Islamists. The attraction would not be hard to understand if we were not so ideology-averse — GOP strategists having made Obama’s radicalism a subject nearly as off-limits as Islamic supremacism, helpfully leaving the Left to fill the canvas
