Back in July, the American Constitution Society held a conference call about the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and a clip of it was released by the GOP on Thursday. In the call, Democratic operative Ricki Seidman cautioned participants to stay tuned, despite the partisan makeup of the Senate seemingly being against them.(Snip)“Over the coming days and weeks,” Seidman says in the recording that seems to have occurred shortly after Kavanaugh’s announcement, “there will be a strategy that will emerge, and I think it’s possible that that strategy might ultimately defeat the nominee.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee is giving Christine Blasey Ford´s attorney until the end of the day Friday to work out terms of next week’s proposed hearing on Ford’s allegations that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her, according to a Republican senator. The GOP is offering to hold the hearing on Wednesday after Ford sought Thursday and is meeting some of her requests but not others, the senator said. The senator added that Republicans are not inclined to agree with Ford’s lawyers that she should only be questioned by lawmakers — not an outside counsel. “We’ll do it

The timeline of events following Christine Blasey Ford’s decision to go public with her allegations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh can be characterized as a series of solicitous accommodations on the part of the Senate Judiciary Committee and its chairman, followed by shifting demands and stonewalling from Democrats and Ford’s lawyers. The letters, statements, and public comments from Senate Republicans and the White House make clear their eagerness for Ford to come forward and be heard (Snip) At first, Democrats demanded that the accuser be heard. But once Republicans agreed, the goalposts moved, and moved,

Are you concerned about President Trump’s suspension of the declassification directive? No-one, well, almost no-one… has any idea how Donald J Trump creates leverage from places few can fathom. Example: Think about how President Trump took Kim Jong-un out of the hands of Chairman Xi Jinping (one of the most looming influence agents on the planet), and handed young Chairman Kim to Moon Jae-in on a joy-filled optimistic platter.

White House journalists fell under the gaze this week of surveillance cameras that now monitor a stretch of driveway where reporters make sensitive source calls, swap gossip, smoke cigarettes, and gather ahead of events with President Trump. Cameras may seem like a no-brainer for sensitive public spaces, but White House press areas have few visible security technologies, and the arrival of a pair of large black observation tools attracted attention. “Big brother is watching,” tweeted photographer Tom Brenner, who frequently covers White House events for The New York Times. The cameras are mounted on a pole

In a July conference call to Democrat leaders, Ricki Seidman – a Democratic operative, former Clinton White House official and current advisor to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford – laid out a strategy to defeat the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Democrats knew they had nothing on squeaky-clean Judge Kavanaugh so they devised a plot to take him down in July. But Ricki Seidman spoke about her plot to destroy Kavanaugh on the July call. Ricki Seidman: Over the coming days and weeks there will be a strategy that will emerge, and I think it’s possible that that strategy might ultimately defeat the nominee.

For the second time this month, President Donald Trump called out California gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom during a campaign rally, and the former mayor of San Francisco responded. During a Thursday night rally in Nevada for incumbent Republican Sen. Dean Heller, Trump called Newsom a "clown" who "wants open borders." "Democrats want to give welfare and free health care to illegal aliens," Trump said. "How about this clown in California who´s running for governor? He wants open borders and then he wants to give them health care, education, everything."

For centuries writers have depicted the weaker sex’s knack for using gossip and manipulation to pursue their ends. Research on women’s in-group relations confirms this natural tendency, in which there was probably once immense evolutionary value. Democrats are doing everything possible to keep Judge Brett Kavanaugh off the Supreme Court because they don’t want to confirm a conservative jurist who will faithfully and accurately apply the Constitution to cases that come before the high court. The framers who signed the Constitution knew it would need to change with changing times, so they set up a process to amend the document – a process that has led to the adoption of 27 amendments. It was never the intention of the framers to have Supreme Court justices effectively amend the Constitution with their decisions –

Regardless of the fate of Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, the Senate should censure the ranking Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee, Dianne Feinstein. Her deception and maneuvering, condemned across the political spectrum, seriously interfered with the Senate’s performance of its constitutional duty to review judicial nominations, and unquestionably has brought the Senate into “dishonor and disrepute,” the standard that governs these matters. As a matter of institutional integrity, the Senate cannot let this wrong go unaddressed. Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution provides that each House of the Congress may “punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour.”

Mr. Rosenstein made these suggestions in the spring of 2017 when Mr. Trump’s firing of James B. Comey as F.B.I. director plunged the White House into turmoil. Over the ensuing days, the president divulged classified intelligence to Russians in the Oval Office, and revelations emerged that Mr. Trump had asked Mr. Comey

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday sought to cast doubt on the woman who has accused his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, saying if the attack was “as bad as she says” it would have been immediately reported to police. After days of restrained comments on the allegations by California professor Christine Blasey Ford, Trump took to Twitter to question her account of what happened between her and Kavanaugh at a party in 1982 when they were in high school. The tweets came as a Republican-controlled U.S. Senate committee struggled with Kavanaugh’s

Rarely have we witnessed so many people pretend a controversy was about one thing when it was so obviously about another. Since September 16, when the name of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kava-naugh’s accuser became known—Christine Blasey Ford, a California psychologist, alleges that he sexually assaulted her in 1982—Democratic politicians and most of the mainstream news media suddenly seemed to care deeply whether Kava-naugh behaved reprehensibly when he was 17. Two and a half centuries of legal precedent in the United States is based on the assumption of "innocent until proven guilty." The law provides for due process, protection against unreasonable search and seizure, trial by a jury of one´s peers, and other measures preventing conviction based solely on an accusation. "J´accuse" was the title of an editorial published in France in 1898 exposing a military cover-up of a French army captain falsely accused of espionage, later exonerated, but with the army suppressing the new evidence, concealing the army´s erroneous conviction. Eerie parallels can be drawn from this story to current

First, the Democrats claimed that Republicans didn’t want to hear from the accuser of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Then when Republicans said they’d love to hear from her, and would she please show up and testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Democrats suggested that such a request was sexist and cruel — that no hearing could be held without an FBI investigation. Now, in an attempt to look forthcoming without actually coming forth with any credible information, the accuser’s lawyers are playing games with the Senate Judiciary Committee.
