Almost two-thirds of federal employees voted for Hillary Clinton during the presidential election, according to a new survey. The poll also found that six of 10 felt that the election itself gave Americans a negative impression of federal service. So it may come as no surprise that some federal employees are considering leaving their employment when President-elect Donald Trump assumes office. “More than one in four federal workers, or 28 percent, will definitely or possibly consider leaving their jobs after Jan. 20 when Trump is sworn into office and becomes leader of the executive branch,” according to the survey conducted

Add Secretary of State John Kerry to list of those skipping the inauguration Friday. A State Department official confirmed to Fox News that the outgoing chief diplomat “will not attend the inauguration.” The official did not give a reason. At least 60 Democratic House lawmakers have already decided not to attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday. While Kerry’s reasons are unclear, the House Democrats skipping the ceremonies are doing so as a boycott of Trump.

Obama uses his final press conference

President Obama issued a farewell warning to President-elect Donald Trump, saying he would jump off the political sidelines if Trump goes against certain ´core values.´ At his last scheduled news conference before leaving office on Friday, Obama said if there was ´systemic discrimination,´ efforts to ´silence dissent´ or to ´roll back voting rights,´ he would be ´speaking out.´ It was among his most activist descriptions of his next act, and indicates Obama may be rethinking his post-presidency role and heeding the urgings of some activists to play a stronger function in the leaderless Democratic Party as it navigates the Trump

Obama says he would speak

President Obama said he would regard any effort to round up and deport Dreamers as an attack on American "core values" that would cause him to speak out publicly. The so-called Dreamers, young people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children, "for all practical purposes are American kids," Obama said at what is expected to be the final news conference of his tenure. "The notion that we would just arbitrarily or because of politics punish those kids, when they didn´t do something themselves ... would merit my speaking out," he said. Obama´s administration has protected more than 700,000 such young people

As this administration draws to a close, Audrey Edwards is packing as fast as the Obamas. By January 20, Inauguration Day, she´ll be nearly 6,000 miles away from Brooklyn not watching the festivities in Paris. A journalist and real estate agent, she first got the idea to leave the US when former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani ran for president in 2008. But when Trump rode down that gilded escalator, called Mexicans rapists, and announced his candidacy for Commander-in-Chief, Edwards put friends on notice: "If somebody as crazy as this guy gets in, I´m out of here." She plans to spend

Last year was officially the Earth´s warmest since record-keeping began in the 1880s. That means 2016 set a global heat record for the third year in a row, the World Meteorological Organization announced Wednesday morning. To come up with its figures the WMO combined global temperature records from various sources, including NOAA, NASA, the UK Met Office and the European weather and climate center ECMWF. (Chart) (Tweet) Temperatures over the Earth's continents and oceans in 2016 were 1.1 degree Celsius (1.98 degrees Fahrenheit) above the pre-industrial average. That means we are already a majority

Trump’s Cabinet doesn’t look much

With the announcement that he was nominating former Georgia governor Sonny Perdue to lead the Department of Agriculture, Donald Trump´s Cabinet is complete. There´d been rumors that Trump was looking to find a Hispanic candidate to fill the position, but that didn´t happen. Which means, as our Ed O´Keefe notes, that Trump´s is the first Cabinet since 1980 in which no member is Hispanic. That´s interesting in part because the country itself has gotten so much more diverse since Ronald Reagan was elected. In 1980, about 6 percent of the population was Hispanic and about 80 percent of the country
