Almost two-thirds of federal employees voted for Hillary Clinton during the presidential election, according to a new survey. The poll also found that six of 10 felt that the election itself gave Americans a negative impression of federal service. So it may come as no surprise that some federal employees are considering leaving their employment when President-elect Donald Trump assumes office. “More than one in four federal workers, or 28 percent, will definitely or possibly consider leaving their jobs after Jan. 20 when Trump is sworn into office and becomes leader of the executive branch,” according to the survey conducted

Obama uses his final press conference
to issue extraordinary warning to
Trump that he will step in if
he ´rounds up´ children for deportation,

President Obama issued a farewell warning to President-elect Donald Trump, saying he would jump off the political sidelines if Trump goes against certain ´core values.´ At his last scheduled news conference before leaving office on Friday, Obama said if there was ´systemic discrimination,´ efforts to ´silence dissent´ or to ´roll back voting rights,´ he would be ´speaking out.´ It was among his most activist descriptions of his next act, and indicates Obama may be rethinking his post-presidency role and heeding the urgings of some activists to play a stronger function in the leaderless Democratic Party as it navigates the Trump

Obama says he would speak
out if Trump targets Dreamers

President Obama said he would regard any effort to round up and deport Dreamers as an attack on American "core values" that would cause him to speak out publicly. The so-called Dreamers, young people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children, "for all practical purposes are American kids," Obama said at what is expected to be the final news conference of his tenure. "The notion that we would just arbitrarily or because of politics punish those kids, when they didn´t do something themselves ... would merit my speaking out," he said. Obama´s administration has protected more than 700,000 such young people

In the first days of 2017, Washington D.C. was empty. It was a city holding its breath. Secret Service police officers in balaclavas waited at the White House as a black SUV carrying departing staffers passed. It had not been so long ago that they came into the city as if they owned it and the entire country. Now the same men and women who ran and ruined the lives of millions were scrolling through job postings on their smartphones. They watched Obama speak from faded screens at sports bars and they cried. They knew it was coming. Day 1. The parties

Trump’s Cabinet doesn’t look much
like America. It looks more like his voters.

With the announcement that he was nominating former Georgia governor Sonny Perdue to lead the Department of Agriculture, Donald Trump´s Cabinet is complete. There´d been rumors that Trump was looking to find a Hispanic candidate to fill the position, but that didn´t happen. Which means, as our Ed O´Keefe notes, that Trump´s is the first Cabinet since 1980 in which no member is Hispanic. That´s interesting in part because the country itself has gotten so much more diverse since Ronald Reagan was elected. In 1980, about 6 percent of the population was Hispanic and about 80 percent of the country

This is it, the last full day of President Barack Obama’s tenure. Damn, it feels better than I thought it would. Forgive my smile as I type. As President Obama makes his way out the door like a drunk who has been tossed from a bar and is determined to smash every glass on his way out, it’s important to take a moment to reflect upon all the good he’s done while he occupied 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Yes, you read that right – thank you, President Obama. No man has done more to both discredit Democrats and elect Republicans than he has over

Hillary Clinton fans are urging her to make a political comeback after a poll showed how she would trounce Bill de Blasio in a hypothetical race for New York Mayor. Clinton, who has given no indication she will run for office again, won 49 percent of the hypothetical vote over de Blasio´s 29 in the survey. The poll sparked calls among her fans to revive her political career. They started a ´Hillary for Mayor´ hashtag on Twitter and told de Blasio to ´watch out´. The poll, conducted by Quinnipiac University, asked: ´If the election for Mayor were being held today, and the candidates
