The Obamas have spoken candidly about their first-hand encounters with racism and secrets of their life in the White House. The President and First Lady recalled their experiences of prejudice including a time when Barack was handed someone´s car keys to fetch the vehicle at valet-parking outside of a restaurant. Michelle Obama told People earlier this month that their highly-privileged life in the White House has only been for the past six years and before that they were also exposed to prejudice. She said: ´Before that, Barack Obama was a black man that lived on the South Side of Chicago,

Morbid obesity is a disability.
Employers should start treating it that way.

Job interviews are an uncomfortable experience for most people. But for people like me who suffer from morbid obesity, they are especially grueling. It’s hard to impress someone when you’re the fat applicant. There’s the added challenge of sustaining an engaging conversation as a potential future employer walks you around the premises, a hike that leaves you winded. After that, you have to squeeze into a tiny chair and present your credentials, maintaining a charming demeanor as the blood circulation to the lower half of your body is cut off. I went through this process over and over again while

Columnist Charles Krauthammer said Jeb Bush’s probable entry into the 2016 presidential race makes him the “instant frontrunner” for the GOP nomination on “Special Report” Tuesday. The conservative commentator also said his entry will “discourage” some of the fringe candidates” from running.Earlier Tuesday, Bush said in a Facebook post that he will “actively explore” a 2016 candidacy “in the coming months.” “As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States,” Bush said

Having learned nothing from its in-the-tank-for-Democrats Hillary Clinton cover debacle, People Magazine is helping out President and Mrs. Obama in their efforts to play the racial victimization card with an interview bemoaning racial profiling, accompanied by a photo that shows a lot of work on making them look like an appealing couple. This is the gem of the piece: "There´s no black male my age, who´s a professional, who hasn´t come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn´t hand them their car keys," said the president, adding that, yes, it had happened to him. None?

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush believes he can “persuade” conservatives to support comprehensive amnesty legislation during a potential 2016 presidential campaign. In the second part of his interview with a local Florida television station this week, Bush was asked about the “immigration issue” and whether he could “get through the primary” with his pro-amnesty positions. Bush replied to NBC 6 in Florida that “a candidate gets to persuade.” “I think there’s a compelling case that, if we want to be young and dynamic again, we have to make legal immigration easier than illegal immigration, that we control our borders, enforce

The Evidence That North Korea

The actions show just how much power the attackers behind the Sony hack have amassed in a short time. But who exactly are they? The New York Times reported this evening that North Korea is “centrally involved” in the hack, citing unnamed U.S. intelligence officials. It’s unclear from the Times report what “centrally involved” means and whether the intelligence officials are saying the hackers were state-sponsored or actually agents of the state. The Times also notes that “It is not clear how the United States came to its determination that the North Korean regime played a central role in the

Squirrels and beavers

Rodents such as squirrels and beavers are contributing far more to global warming than previously thought, forcing climate scientists to alter the models they use to chart how the world is warming up. Arctic ground squirrels churn up and warm soil in the Tundra, releasing carbon dioxide, while methane released by beavers contributes 200 times more methane than they did 100 years ago, according to scientists from the American Geophysical Union. Faeces and urine produced by rodents are speeding up the release of carbon from the permafrost, the vast store of greenhouses spanning the Arctic Circle, researchers found.
