Most Americans are familiar with the prestige that surrounds the United States military service academies. Various names and phrases, spoken like solemn incantations, attest to their sacrosanct status: the Point, the Long Gray Line, Annapolis, cadets. Douglas MacArthur, in a 1962 address at West Point, typified the veneration when he told the cadets that they were “the leaven which binds together the entire fabric of our national system of defense.” The service academies

U.S. President Barack Obama has been accused of being disrespectful, after being caught chewing gum during the Republic Day parade in India. A photo of the president removing the gum from his mouth before popping it back in, has been shared across Twitter. Fox News, a usually staunch supporter of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, changed its tone on Friday when anchor Chris Wallace and host Shepard Smith expressed harsh criticism of the prime minister´s decision to speak before the US Congress in March, without the prior arrangement of the White House and just a couple of weeks before the Israeli election. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner extended the invitation to Netanyahu on Wednesday and the Prime Minister´s speech on Capitol Hill is expected to focus on the need for increased sanctions against Iran, as well as on Islamist extremism.

"They are using religion as a mask to act on their political motives and trying to control people and cause all this mayhem," Abdul-Jabbar said on NBC´s "Meet the Press." He said aggressors who say they follow Islam have "this insane idea about what religious life is about and they are getting the world to buy it that this is what Islam
