Two Christian ministers who own an Idaho wedding chapel were told they had to either perform same-sex weddings or face jail time and up to $1,000 in daily fines, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court. Alliance Defending Freedom is representing Donald and Evelyn Knapp, two ordained ministers who own the Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. “Right now they are at risk of being prosecuted,” attorney Jeremy Tedesco told me. “The threat of enforcement is more than just credible.” The wedding chapel is registered as a “religious corporation” limited to performing “one-man-one-woman marriages as defined by the Holy Bible.” However,

Via Gabe Malor, not only would (i.e. will) Abbott’s wife be the first Latina first lady of Texas, Abbott himself likes to stress that fact when he introduces her at rallies. Dave Weigel tweets that Mrs. Abbott is featured on campaign billboards with her husband across the state. Her mother’s picture has also made it onto Abbott 2014 billboards to assure fellow Latinos that “Texas will love having him as governor.” It’s no secret, in other words, that he and his wife are of different races. On the contrary, it’s a message broadcast repeatedly by the Abbott campaign itself to appeal

Amber Vinson, the second nurse in Dallas to contract the Ebola virus, has retained a high-profile attorney, her family said in a statement. In the statement, obtained by CBS affiliate WOIO in Cleveland, the family said they "are troubled by some of the negative public comments and media coverage that mischaracterize Amber and her actions." "Suggestions that she ignored any of the physician and government-provided protocols recommended to her are patently untrue and hurtful. In the interest of Amber and our family, we have retained esteemed attorney Billy Martin to provide us with legal counsel during this unfortunate and troubling time," the

This is featured on Drudge at the moment:(Snip for graphic)The link goes to this Reuters story: President Barack Obama made a rare appearance on the campaign trail on Sunday with a rally to support the Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland, but early departures of crowd members while he spoke underscored his continuing unpopularity. When liberal news outlets talk about Obama in such blunt terms, things are grim. More: Most candidates from his party have been wary of appearing with him during their election races because of his sagging popularity. … A steady stream of people walked out of the auditorium while he spoke,

Tennis star Serena Williams has accused the Russian tennis chief of making ´extremely sexist, racist and bullying´ comments after he described her and her sister Venus as ´scary´ to look at. Shamil Tarpischev, of the Russian Tennis Federation, made the remarks during an appearance on a local TV talk show this month alongside former Olympic singles champion Elena Dementieva. When Dementieva was asked what it was like playing against the Williams sisters, Tarpischev cut in and called them the ´Williams brothers´, before adding: ´It´s scary when you really look at them.´ The official was later handed a one-year suspension imposed by

Monica Lewinsky is 100% right. The internet can be a brutal, unforgiving colosseum of rage, hatred and vile, disgusting abuse. I speak as something of an expert in this area given that I was recently reported to be the most abused public figure on Twitter in Britain. But the kind of nonsense I have to put up with – someone recently tweeted my eldest son to inform him that he hoped I was soon beheaded – pales into insignificance compared to the abhorrent misogyny, sexism and often criminal insults (threats to rape etc) that high profile women have to endure. Head on over to the website for SarahPAC, and you will be immediately asked for contributions to help “reverse Obama’s destructive policies” by sending “real conservatives to fix them.” But according to a new report, former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s political action committee has only doled out 5 percent of the money she raised to actual candidates for office this year. Here is what OpenSecrets.org reported about SarahPAC’s latest FEC filings: For the two-year 2014 cycle, the former Alaska governor’s PAC, a vehicle that helps her stay in the game amid talk that she may run in the 2016 presidential contest,
