All three Illinois drivers were stopped for what they thought were innocent items placed near their windshields. The staples were removed from a list of rationed foods that most Cubans depend on, permitting them to buy as much of the products as they want – at 20 times more than they used to. The move comes amid efforts by Raul Castro's government to scale back Cuba's subsidy-rich, cash-poor economy. Lunches which cost so little they were almost free lunches were eliminated from some state-cafeterias in September.

There's no way to predict what the final vote on the health care bill will be, but the body language of Democrats in the chamber today suggests they are, for whatever reasons, breathing a little easier.(Snip)At some point, people began unwrapping copies of bill and handing it to the speaker for her autograph. The first member I saw ask was Rep. I just can't keep it in. I know I shouldn't boast but, well, as a Roman Catholic I simply have to. We've won. I mean, we actually have won. The church founded by Christ has become the one and only institution hated by assorted Marxists, maniacs and misanthropes. In the space of a single week, we had the following: The Washington Post ran achingly predictable self-promoter and professional atheist, Richard Dawkins, writing that the Catholic

Twenty years ago on Nov. 9, a captive people of a divided continent literally with their hands dismantled the Berlin Wall. This wall represented not merely the totalitarian tyranny of Soviet Communism, but the eternal ugliness and evil of that inherent disposition in man to deny the freedom of another to live his life as he wishes. A whole generation has come of age since then with insufficient memory, or none, of that moment in

The show’s debut drew 14 million viewers, the most of any new series this season. I thought this was significant enough to ask for the White House’s reaction. Not everyone agreed.
