A myth congeals around memories of Walter Cronkite. Burnished by President Obama and former President Clinton, among others, at what Washington Post media writer Howard Kurtz called ''an extravagantly produced ceremony'' in New York City's Lincoln Center on September 9, it apparently admits of no critical scrutiny. (Snip) Though he was, according to one poll, ''the most trusted man in America'' during his ''Evening News'' reign, Cronkite violated that trust in a way that helped

''We do not want to give part of our 1 200 kilos of enriched uranium in order to receive fuel of 20% enrichment,'' Alaeddin Borujerdi told the ISNA news agency. A US presidential aide says the auxiliary troops, Washington is likely to deploy to Afghanistan, would be consumed by the volatile situation in the war-torn country. President Barack Obama's national security adviser, James Jones, said, "You can keep on putting troops in, and you could have 200,000 troops there and Afghanistan will swallow them up as it has done in the past," Der Spiegel reported.

Many in the media, including Mediaite, have noted the allegories of the villains in ABC’s series remake of the V miniseries and the Obama administration, or more accurately, the views of the administration’s harshest opponents. The show’s debut drew 14 million viewers, the most of any new series this season. I thought this was significant enough to ask for the White House’s reaction. Not everyone agreed. The House voted 242-192 in favor of a must-pass procedural measure setting the terms for the debate. All 177 Republicans voted to block the debate. With Obama urging them on in a rare personal visit to Capitol Hill, Democrats pushed toward a final vote late Saturday

MARION, Ala. — The sign going on the front door at the Perry County courthouse reads: "Closed for the Obama Holiday." The rural, mostly black county has proclaimed Monday as an official holiday celebrating the election of the nation's first black president, Barack Obama. It's one of Alabama's poorest counties, but it's sparing little during five days of festivities. County employees, as well as city workers in Marion and Uniontown, will get a paid holiday

David Axelrod's appearance on Fox News Wednesday apparently wasn't a sign of a truce between the Obama administration and the cable news network as it appears the White House is putting pressure on Democrat consultants to avoid the station at all costs. For its part, the White House has denied these allegations. Such was reported Friday by the Los Angeles Times (h/t NBer Gary Hall):

(Snip) Listening to her last night I was reminded of how powerfully she presents herself when she is not being filtered by the MSM. Remember her acceptance speech? Her handling of Joe Biden in the debate? Take away the snarky anchors and condescending pundits and Sarah Palin reminds one of the most interesting figures on the pilitical stage today.

Barely 24 hours after the massacre at the Fort Hood Army Base, the lines were drawn: On one side are those who believe the shooting was the act of a madman and that emphasizing his Muslim identity is irresponsible. On the other side are those who insist this was an act of terrorism and that the suspect's religious affiliation is central to the story. This is familiar ground.

The agreement will allow a vote on an amendment, authored by Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., and Rep. Brad Ellsworth, D-Ind., that would bar funds going toward abortion under both the public option and any private plans that participate in the new insurance exchange.

In the comedy, Analyze This, psychiatrist Ben Sobel (Billy Crystal) finds himself to be psychological nursemaid for mafia boss man Paul Vitti (Robert DeNiro). The various humor scenes throughout the movie build off the violent life of DeNiro contrasted with the cerebral and passive world of Crystal and his psychiatry. Because psychiatrists are scientists of diagnosing and treating mental disorders, we are lead to believe they should have better control over their own actions. We
