Student Loan Forgiveness: Morally Reprehensible
and Legally Invalid

Barack Obama set the stage in 2015 for the student loan forgiveness fiasco when he announced the 'America's College Promise' proposal to make two years of community college free. On the proposal's web page is this: "Students should be able to get the knowledge and the skills they need without taking on decades worth of student debt." (emphasis mine) Obama's idea has now been extended to include four-year colleges. His lackey, that joke who currently occupies the Bully Pulpit, is simply forwarding his boss' idea. The problem for Biden is that Obama's idea is neither legal nor morally acceptable. An article in The Conversation makes a good moral case for not

I think community colleges are a great idea. They're inexpensive and have always been at least partially supported by local taxpayers (in Illinois).

It would be cheaper to start public colleges, like public schools and let the elite colleges charge anything they like to the rich as long as they pay for it themselves without government loans. Colleges are taking advantage of the American taxpayer and the student loans to raise the cost every term.

FTA: "Students should be able to get the knowledge and the skills they need without taking on decades worth of student debt." Can you define that "skills they need" 'cause from my POV what the current public education model is cranking out is far from the reading, writing & arithmetic this taxpayer agreed to and those students needed. Explain to me how we made HUGE strides in industry, health, space when most people had a high school graduation and many only an 8th grade one. Another two years of woke nonsense isn't what I signed up for.

An argument exists that the back and forth about student loan forgiveness is unfair because borrowers get their hopes up and then the hopes are dashed. I say to ‘ell with the feelings of these borrowers. They signed contracts. Make them pay!

Not repaying your debts is theft. Stealing money from taxpayers is theft. People who don't pay their debts are thieves. People who sign legal contracts then fail to do what they agreed to do are liars. People who devise was for debtors to avoid keeping their promises and paying their debts also are liars and thieves.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has turned to climate change to explain how the state went from a $100 billion surplus two years ago to a $28 billion deficit, which would have been even higher prior to drastic actions last month. As CalMatters noted, deficit estimates ranged from $38 billion to $73 billion: That prompted Newsom and the Legislature to take “early action” last month to reduce the deficit by more than $17 billion ahead of the regular budget process. Their plan included some program cuts, but mostly relied on new revenue, internal borrowing and funding delays and shifts for savings,

Trump, who is in his fourth week of a hush-money trial in New York, is required by the judge to be in court for testimony. Wednesday is the only day the court is not in session. Biden is proposing their first presidential debate be in late June and the second would occur in September before early voting begins. He proposes a vice presidential debate in July.

The hush money trial against former President Donald Trump hasn't been going well for the prosecution. As George Washington law professor Jonathan Turley explained, he doesn't think that the prosecution has made their case and believes Judge Juan Merchan should toss it before it goes to the jury. Now, that's if Merchan is judging based on the evidence presented, which remains to be seen. But the comments that Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) made about Cohen are causing a stir for different reasons. MSNBC's Willie Geist asked him if he thought that the prosecution had made their case. Goldman's response:

Never before has an American president been so physically unstable that he needs an accompanying entourage wherever he walks. That shakiness is a visual metaphor of Biden’s presidency. He represents a departure from previous presidents in being the only president who leaves voters doubting whether he is actually in charge and wondering why a frail 81-year-old, broadly despised man is being pushed to run again, even as most don’t believe he’s capable of completing that term if elected. Biden came in as the anti-Trump antidote who was supposed to unify us and bring the adults back into the room. Biden faces an international and domestic dumpster fire as he flip-flops
